Acidic body means unhealthy body. When your body is overly acidic, it makes an unwanted environment where yeast, bacteria, and illness thrive. Moreover, it takes minerals from bones and vital organs in order to neutralize the acid and eliminate it from the body. As a result, the body’s mineral reserves as sodium, calcium, magnesium, and potassium can run precariously low, the initiating damage that could go undetected for years till it reaches an unhealthy level and causes acidosis 1 .
Numerous people are already eating enough acid-forming foods, such as sugar, meats, grains, and dairy. Since the body is continuously producing acidic waste products from the metabolism, the waste products should be excreted or neutralized in some way. Therefore, in order to neutralize the persistent acid generation, we should supply our bodies with more alkaline foods.
About Body’s pH Level
One of the simplest ways to tell if the balance of your pH level is fine is to look at the body’s pH level. But what exactly is body’s pH level? How do you know it is gone out of balance? What does it mean?
Let’s find the answer!
What is it?
Simply said – it is the measure of alkalinity and acidity. Both are significant in their own way. Our stomach, for instance, needs high acidity in order to digest foods, while our immune system requires alkalinity.
What does it mean?
An ideal, neutral pH balance is 7 (the pH balance runs from 0 to 14) 2 . So, the lower the number – the higher the acidity level. 7 is the level our body should maintain in order to provide our various systems with the right environment to function. However, what usually happens is that the body gets strapped in a state of complete acidity that can have harmful effects.
Signs of Acidic Body
This is not as intuitive as spilling blood on a pH strip or measuring your temperature like you would find in a laboratory. Instead, you should look closer at the way your body is running. Signs your body is too acidic:
- Excess Weight
Too much acid in the body can cause the production of more insulin and thus, store even fatter. The detox systems of the body are unable to deal with an overwhelming amount of acid in the body and will push it back in the fat tissues, and cling to cells. Moreover, your metabolism – that relies on appropriate alkaline levels – has a difficult time functioning correctly, which stops the body from burning calories.
Therefore, if you’ve noticed that you are experiencing a difficult time losing weight, that is a good indicator that your body has more acid that it could deal with.
- Bone Weakness
Our body is incredibly efficient and smart.
When faced with acidity, it is going to find alkali from someplace and that someplace is not a place you want food pulled from – the bones.
Initially, you may not notice anything. However, as your body carry on to pull nutrients – as calcium – from the bones in an attempt to combat high acidity, you are going to wind up with really weak bones, and eventually, deal with easy fracturing and a higher risk of osteoporosis.
This is the reason why GPs ask patients who have osteoporosis to eliminate high-acid foods (as coffee) from their diet.
- Tooth Sensitivity
According to a study published in the International Journal of Chemical Engineering and Applications (in 2015), high body acidity is linked to a reduction in tooth enamel strength 3 .
So, if you notice that you have problems from cavities or cannot eat hot or cold foods without your teeth erupting in great pain, that can be a sign that you are actually suffering from acid-associated enamel degradation.
- Sleep Problems
This sign indicates how common high acidity in the human body actually is. Surveys have constantly shown that people in the U.S. are one of the most sleep-deprived people in this world 4 . There is a great chance that acidity in the body is to blame.
Remember how your body pulls calcium from your bones in an effort to fight acidity? Well, according to the Human Nutrition Research Center in North Dakota, when the calcium levels deplete – you will suffer from insomnia 5 .
How to Fix High Acidity?
If you’ve assumed that you have acidic body, here are some tips that can help you fix it:
Diet is probably the most important thing in fighting acidity. One of the most popular methods of treating acidity is an alkaline diet 6 . Read more about alkaline diet and foods: http://yourhealthtube.com/alkaline-diet-foods-great-health/

Change Your Cleaning Products
You should change some of your cleaning products because most of the commercial cleaning products are extremely acidic and can have a huge effect on your body’s pH balance.
Improving pH levels might require some more thought, but you will appreciate the rewards of your effort as you start to feel more vibrant and energetic and your overall health improves. There is no any question about it, what we consume has a direct impact on our overall health. Therefore, you should be more careful and opt for a well-balanced diet. Alkaline foods can help you fix the problem with acidity.
Our body has its limits for how much it could compensate for the acid imbalance. Hence, food intake plays an essential role in maintaining the acid-alkaline balance. Various diseases and common malaise are the results of the attempt of the body to rebalance the inner environment.
If you recognize some of the above-mentioned signs of the acidic body you should visit your doctor and check out if you really have this problem.
